Our brains #1 concern SAFETY
So that 8 pound bowling ball sitting on our shoulders is actually an unequaled super computer. All the computers on the planet earth pale in comparison. So what’s the primary objective of this spectacular super computer? It’s to keep us safe. Think about it when you were learning to ride a bike and you crashed did the brain tell you to get back on that bike and do it again? No our parents did, the brain said danger that hurt stay away from that bike. If you think about pain behavior modification, when we are told that the stove is hot we don’t really pay attention to that warning. Once we’ve been burned we never forget. The brains objective as it learns and receives new data, it has a giant file called
“keep the unit safe.”
Some of you may have unfortunately been the victims of PTSD. Post traumatic stress syndrome. If we put our brains into a situation where people are trying to kill us by shooting us with guns and throwing grenades at us the brain says “this is unacceptable “.
The brains priority to keep us safe runs millions of probable situations that always come up with danger which is not safety which causes the brain to freak out.
So there is a very simple, practical solution to providing safety for the brain. Over the course of the last four decades I have been introduced to many people. In the conversation if they say
“ what do you do “
if I say I teach taekwondo, they always say, I bet you could kick my butt. But if I say I am a professor of martial arts, they always say interesting where is your school, when are your classes? So what is the conclusion drawn from these responses? That people are afraid of being beat up. Sounds like an oversimplification but it’s not especially with males. Females are more afraid of an attack and rape. What I have also witnessed in four decades is that even within the first few lessons of people starting a martial art program, there is a change in their posture and overall confidence and peace of mind. Why? Because the brain can now start formulating safety for the unit with the self-defense skills it’s being shown.
All of us want peace of mind , to feel calm and secure, to be able to go to sleep easily without anxiety, and there is a simple aide to make all of this a reality. Learning ways to defend yourself if attacked. That’s the primary reason we produced Warriors and Senior Warriors. To give you a simple self-defense system that in a commitment of five minutes a day, your brain can relax because now it can problem solve with the encapsulated 100 years of experience that we are providing.
