Self Improvement for the New Year
2021 has snuck up behind us and it’ll be here in a just a few weeks. Although 2020 has been rough for everyone, its time to reflect on what we did to overcome it or what we could’ve done better.
Staying at home has been both good and bad. Some people find comfort in being home more with their significant other, while others feel overly stressed and depressed having to spend so much time inside. Many of us might feel the latter, working from home and remote online learning is no easy task for anyone. In this blog, we’ll go over some ideas on how to start implementing self improvement for the new year to come.
1. Set a personal goal and stick with it
Every year we make New Years Resolutions and think to ourselves that “this is the year.” How many times have we thought that? How many times have we actually achieved one or more of those New Years Resolutions? This year, start with something small, simple, and easy to do. Turn this small goal into an everyday habit and gradually work your way up to bigger goals. Break down your bigger goals into actionable steps, this make it easier to implement into your routine. Remember to allow yourself the time you need to achieve big goals, don’t rush the process!
2. Take the time to do something for yourself
Have a day of relaxation every now and then. Treat yourself to something you love like reading book, watching a movie, or having a pampering spa day. Don’t feel guilty about having time to yourself, you deserve it. Everyone needs it, no matter how busy they may be.
3. Learn something useful
Self improvement starts with knowing how to care for yourself. Use this time to learn important lifelong skills such as self-defense, all it takes is a few minutes of practice each day. You will be mentally, physically, and spiritually strong, sharp, and stealthy.
4. Find a family activity to enjoy together
We have nothing but time since the pandemic isn’t over and schools remain closed. Find a hobby or activity that the whole family can enjoy such as baking, cooking, painting, or even playing board games. Take the time to interact with your family since you don’t see them most of the work day.
5. Learn to enjoy the moment
2020 has flew past us at lighting speed. Where has the time gone? In times like these, we learn to appreciate the little things in our lives. It’s been a humbling year to say the least, treasure your loved ones and be present for them. Take a minute everyday to be grateful and enjoy the moment when you can.
