Stress Makes You Fat?!
So you say to yourself how does stress make me fat? It’s simple, that super computer on your shoulders that we have talked about previously wants to keep you safe at all costs. Stress triggers the flight or fight response and that signals danger. The brain responds to danger by storing energy to protect the unit. Stored energy is fat.
Many of us have experienced traumatic seasons in our life and simultaneously had weight gain. Even though our eating habits hadn’t changed that drastically, and our activity level may have even increased due to the anxiety brought on by the stress. But our body kept storing fat in a response to save the unit from danger and starvation.
Starvation, I’ve never starved myself, why would the brain respond that way? Oh contrar, have you ever gone on a diet and drastically reduced your caloric intake? Have you ever fasted? That super computer on your shoulders understood that to be starvation. That super computer deducted that the unit was without food and the unit would soon fail so in response, we must store energy any time that happens to protect the unit.
So here’s where warrior http://usa.net comes to the rescue. You may be doing warriors or senior warriors for the fun, the cardiovascular intensity, the challenge to the brain, the strength and flexibility enhancement, the fun the whole family participates in, all of those are great reasons. But the key to weight loss, is that the brain communicates safety. Known or unknown, the confidence you gain from learning the solutions to the question “what would you do if?” creates safety to the brain. The brain then says I don’t need to hold on to this storage of energy. And you lose weight.
All right Warriors, let’s go put in that five minute daily discipline.
